Nestled on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, Fairhope is characterized by beautiful live oaks, gorgeous sunsets, and a phenomenon called a jubilee, where marine life come to the shoreline by the thousands at certain times of the year. Fairhope is well known for it's artistic community, monthly art walks, local writers, and great shopping. It is the home of The Grand Hotel and Spa, founded in 1847, where travelers come from around the world to enjoy the luxury dining, golf, and spa. Fairhope was founded as single tax colony, and is one of only two single tax colonies remaining in the United States. Colony property is leased in 99 year renewable leases and improvements are owned by the lessees.
